SLING
FAQs:
How easy is
a sling to use?
Using a Rockin' Baby Sling is very easy, but
does take a little time and practice to learn. Once you've become
proficient in using it you will be able to put your child in the
sling easily, securely, quickly and comfortably. You will find that
it swiftly becomes a simple and natural process.
You will have more success learning to
use the sling if you start out with a fed and rested baby. You may
also find that it is easier to first try it with your baby's weight
supported in your lap.
Once baby is securely in the sling quickly
stand and start moving...baby loves the motion.
Is it safe?
The Rockin' Baby Sling is very
safe and secure when used properly. It is the responsibility of
the user to follow the instructions and read the safety and warnings.
Use common sense when using the sling and it will be safe. Always
keep one hand on baby until you are very comfortable using the sling.
Be aware of how baby's body may extend beyond yours when moving
around doorjambs, hot items, sharp corners etcetera. Never use while
cookingKeep a hold of baby when bending or moving quickly. Remember
there are no straps holding your baby in. It is possible for a child
to climb out of the sling, so do not use the sling with an uncooperative
child.
Is it comfortable?
The Rockin' Baby Sling is very
comfortable. Instead of arms going numb when you carry baby for
too long, the sling distributes weight across shoulder, upper back
and hip. If the strap becomes uncomfortable it can be spread out
to form a cap over the shoulder. It is also good to change shoulders
periodically. With a heavier child you may want to lower the rings
slightly.
Will the sling
fit me?
All of our slings are One-Size-Fits-All.
Because they are ring slings they can be adjusted to fit
both the wearer and the child. If you are petite the tail will be
longer on you, if you are large the tail will be shorter. The tail
length will also vary depending on the carrying position used and
the size of the child in the sling.
At what age
can baby be worn in the sling?
Baby can be worn in the sling
from the time of birth until 40 pounds. You can
change carrying positions to match baby's development.
How do you wash
the sling?
The sling should be washed
in cold water on the gentle cycle. To quiet the clanking rings,
pin or tie a couple of socks around them. Tumble dry low (with the
socks still around the rings).
Is the fabric
safe?
The slings are made of 100%
cotton, breathable fabric. Also, all of our sling fabric is pre-washed.
What kind of
fabrics do you use?
All of our slings and pouches are made out of
cotton, breathable fabrics.
The majority of them are made of either 100% cotton voile
or 100% cotton poplin, the rest are either 100% cotton twill, 95%
cotton / 5% stretch poplin, and linen / cotton blend.
We pre-wash all of the fabrics before they are sewn, therefore
you have no shrinkage or running.
Are the fabrics
breathable?
All
of the fabrics we use are very breathable. We choose our fabrics specifically for
their breathable quality.
Will my sling
have a pocket?
All
of our slings have a pocket with a Velcro closure. The reversible slings have 2 pockets, one on both sides of
the tail.
How do you adjust
it?
The tail is pulled through
both rings, then doubled back through the top ring like a belt.
One pulls the tail to adjust the size of the pouch, which changes
depending on baby's size and on the carrying position. The front
and back rails of the pouch can also be adjusted independently by
pulling the appropriate side of the tail just below the rings.
Do you do custom
slings?
We do custom slings if you
provide the fabric and trim. We also can shorten your sling if you are very petite. Contact us for more info at 888*645*BABY
or at info@rockinbabysling.com.
What about the
lack of padding?
We have found padding to be
bulky, hot and unnecessary. It doesn't make the sling any more comfortable,
but does make it less versatile. The lack of padding makes it comfortable
on hot days, easy to fit into a diaper bag, easier for nursing baby
in the sling, easier to adjust and change babies position, and more
useful as a blanket.
How strong are
the rings?
We use four different ring
types, plastic, metal, brass and aluminum. Our plastic and aluminum rings are tested by our ring supplier
in the following ways:
• Impact Testing
•
Pull Testing
•
Soaking in bleach and then a full washer/dryer cycle
•
Freezing followed by additional impact testing
•
Heating followed by additional pull testing
Additionally, each ring is
individually tested and inspected before shipment. It must pass
an impact test and a 250 pound pull test before being considered
ready to ship.
The metal and brass rings have
been tested for weights of up to 1480 lbs. We have never had any problems with any
of our rings. We use
the larger gauge metal rings because the thinner gauges have been
recalled by other sling companies in the past.
Where
are the slings made?
All
of our slings and pouches are made in Los Angeles, California by
hardworking moms and dads! We make our slings and pouches here in Los Angeles so that we can be sure of the quality. We see every sling and pouch before it is shipped.
Why does your
sling cost more?
Our
slings costs us more to make because we use 2 1/2 yards of high
quality fabric on one-sided slings and 5 yards on reversible slings
that we then pre-wash. We
also use 7 yards of trim around the sling, and sometimes even patches.
Our pouches are fully adjustable and reversible with zippers, and are made with 3 yards of fabric. All of our slings and pouches are sewn with 40 lb weight thread which helps
make them even stronger. We pay all of our stitchers fair, living
wages here in Los Angeles.
Our slings are made with very high quality work and it is
important to us to have this high standard for all babies!

one at a retail store?
