Carrying Positions: Pouches

Back Carry

12 months to 40 lbs.

This is the back carry position for toddlers. To start put baby in the Hip Carry Position, then slide baby around to your back. Make sure a second person is there to check that your child is securely in the pouch, with the padded rail reaching to the inside bend of the knees and the outside rail reaching up to the shoulders.

Make sure the fabric on your shoulder is pulled over it forming a cap for comfort, and that the zippers are across your chest. If you want to tighten the pouch slightly while it is on simply pull the inside fabric over your shoulder, essentially doubling it over. This will tighten the top rail, pulling baby tighter to you.
